Club Overview
The Modewarre Football and Netball Club is possibly the only truly country club in the Bellarine Football League and the Bellarine and District Netball Association. Located at the Mount Moriac Reserve we have a fantastic rural outlook both physically and in terms of how our members feel about the value they get from their involvement. Being a great country club means you make lasting friendships, receive a stronger level of attention particularly our junior players who are developing and honing their skills. We are also one of the oldest country clubs in Victoria. Started in 1879 we have a long and proud history of being a service to our communities.
We have an energetic team of volunteers who help to make the club tick from coaching to cooking, training to team managers, social to sporting, you name our people do it.
Please read on about our club and if you are interested in learning more please give us a call or drop us an email. Details can be found in the “Contact Us” section located in the menu to the left.
Modewarre Football and Netball Club Inc provides avenues for all ages. For the very young, we have Auskick and Netta which focus on building confidence and understanding without the pressure of competition. As our members gain in age, confidence and experience they can advance through to competitive play with the Warriors and become representatives of regional and state teams.
Our Junior Netball caters for players starting at 11 and under and our Junior Football for players starting at 10 and under. We have one of the strongest team structures in the league, competing at entry level, with two teams at each age level, all the way through to seniors. Our team is supported by energetic and experienced coaches and administrators to ensure we have strong and capable players moving up through the ranks to seniors. Our club philosophy is, however, about more than just winning. It is about each and every player developing their skills and enjoyment of the games they play. We see our approach as an investment in the future, ours and our players.
We offer Netta and Auskick programs for the very young and have sides (sometimes more than one) in each age group up to senior level competition in both football and netball.
Our club structure reflects a decision we made a couple of years back to focus more on skill development for both netball and football; each code now has its own President and a supporting committee of management (CoM). The CoM are solely focused on player and team related issues including coaching, player development and support.
Overseeing the overall club operations is a club board which includes a Chairman, the code Presidents, and Portfolio leaders which take responsibility for the social and administrative details needed to provide a vibrant social environment and to manage the club today and into the future.
